The Navy Blazer
First, there is Navy Blue. According to former French model turned Parisian fashion guru Inès de la Fressange, 'navy blue is a signature colour whatever the season. Navy blue is soft without being soppy'. Less common and less harsh than black, navy blue is elegant and carries personality. Then, there is the blazer. It suits every age, can be worn day or night, at work or just to go shopping. The blazer is a Parisian must have. So combine the two and you will simply hit French fashion perfection.
There is no right or wrong for how or when to wear a navy blazer. It carries with it a cool, chic and trendy attitude no matter what the circumstances. It works wonders with just about anything: white jeans on sunny days, suit trousers for work or an evening out, ripped jeans, shorts, even with leopard skirts...
But mostly, French women will go for simplicity. Like many other Parisians, the way I prefer to style it is to roll up the sleeves and keep everything minimalist, eg with my favourite jeans and a white shirt. I wish this is exactly how I could have worn it for this photoshoot but unfortunately, the temperatures in London are pretty damn freezing these days so I ended up wearing an extra layer of knitwear. But everything is intentionally low key apart from the blazer itself (with its gorgeous cobalt lining) and the accessories like this amazing cognac saddle bag from Kalamarie handbags (fantastic brand for quality stand out handbag that only you will be wearing by the way).
There is obviously a very wide choice out there when it comes to navy blazers. But if there was only one brand I would recommend it would have to be The Kooples. They have totally nailed the blazer à la française. The one I am wearing here was bought at The Kooples ages ago and I keep on wearing it. I have simply never got bored of it. And whenever I am in need of a new jacket The Kooples is my absolute first destination. And it's actually a French brand so for a Parisian look it sounds quite right... I have selected two from their current range but have also added other options like J.Crew who are also pretty good at mastering the art of the blazer.
1. The Kooples Timeless Suit Jacket, £295 - the closest to the one I am wearing
2. Regent Blazer by J.Crew, £198 - definitely my second best and under £200
3. APC Jacqueline Blazer, £320
4. Joseph Will Blazer, £210 (50% off on The Outnet)
5. Reiss Indi Jacket, £225
6. Embroidered Suit Jacket by The Kooples, £269.50 (30% off at the moment)
