Side stripe trousers are definitely trending
If you have been browsing the first FW16 collection arrivals, you may have noticed a lot of brands have one thing in common. For all the incredible variety that is to come in the cold months, side stripes are definitely trending across the high street and designers. Now this is not typically my go-to type of trousers. I feel too old and definitely not athletic enough to dare them. But... But then I tried a pair from See By Chloe... And I just could not walk out of the shop (Matchesfashion on Marylebone high street) without them. The main reasons being: they are ultra comfortable and extremely flattering. It's like wearing magic pyjamas as they lengthen the legs like you would not believe. Now the side stripe trousers from See By Chloe are obviously expensive, too expensive (£275). And while they may be a good idea for my silhouette, they are not good news for my bank account. But there is plenty of choice. To be honest, I would have rather bought from ME+EM (details below) but they no longer had my size.

The way I would wear them
With heels and maximum simplicity. Obviously side stripe trousers can be worn with a pair sneakers for a full athletic vibe. But if you are intending to wear them beyond a casual stroll to the park on a Sunday then that does not work so much, does it? However, it does not take much to make them look more dressy. A pair of high heels. I quite like the combination of navy and red with these, especially as they make the stripes stand out even more (old Sergio Rossi here). On a bright sunny day, platform sandals would work well too. And a neutral silk camisole for example (here, although it is anything but evident, I am wearing one of Zadig & Voltaire's camisoles from their permanent collection). Both the heels and the silk fabric break the casual feel in my view.
